Bonito Mirasol 5/1/84 – 7/17/06

Good bye old friend.
We miss you.
Your pasture and corral are empty.
You were our first and only stallion.
We were lucky to learn from you.
We could not have had a nicer gentleman to learn from.
We called you ‘Studley’ as in ‘Studley DoRight’ after  ‘Dudley DoRight = the Canadian Mountie’ because, like he, you were such a gentleman with the ladies.

You were an excellent ambassador for the Paso Fino breed.
You were a wonderful example of how wonderful a stallion can be.
You were gentle.
You were so patient when I had to draw your blood every few weeks.
You were so good at the vet’s; so gentle, so compliant, not screaming at the other horses.
You loved to be petted and have your mane and forelock caressed.
You were patient, not moving a foot, when our grandkids screamed and ran around as they bathed you.
You were ‘dog broke’ as one cowboy commented, when our dog ran repeatedly back and forth underneath you.
You were so good that we did not need hot wire to separate you from the mares; you could inhale their scent, but you did not damage the corral.

You sweet talked your mares and were very gentle with them.
You leave a vast legacy in the Treasure Valley.
I hope all live up to your standards and your greatness.
I hope all bring pride to your lineage.
We are so glad to have known you.
It seemed we were together so long, yet it was too short in years.
We expected you to grow old with us.
You were a gentleman.
We were lucky to learn from you.
You were our first and only stallion.
Your pasture and corral are empty.
We miss you.
Good bye old friend.

Studley developed severe, impacted colic 7/17/06 in a few short hours. The only option, with unknown prognosis, was surgery. After much agonizing, we opted to allow him to go to the greener pastures filled with mares. A Treasure Valley foundation is gone. Goodbye my friend.
